Easy Variety for Cooking
By Gus
You can spend less to eat healthier. You can have a different meal every day for variety, and still have the advantages of having a routine to make cooking simple. You can do it with meal prep or cook everyday.
Here’s a sample of how I do it:
Rice in rice cooker, Beef with taco seasoning, and frozen steamer bag Green Beans
Potato roasted/baked, Chicken thighs marinated in soy sauce and honey, and frozen steamer bag Broccoli
Sweet Potato roasted/baked, Chicken Breast with garlic powder and paprika, and frozen steamer bag Mixed Veggies
Rice, Chicken Thighs with fajita seasoning, Green Beans
Potato, Chicken Breast marinated in soy sauce and honey, and Broccoli
Sweet Potato roasted/baked, Beef with garlic powder and ginger powder, Mixed Veggies
Rice, Chicken Breast with fajita seasoning, Green Beans
Potato, Beef marinated in soy sauce and honey, Broccoli
Sweet Potato, Chicken Thighs with garlic powder and paprika, Mixed Veggies
See the idea?
That’s 9 meals but you only need to know:
1) How to put rice in the rice cooker,
2) How to put a potato or sweet potato in the oven
3) How to put a frozen bag of vegetables in the microwave
4) Stock some ziplock bags for marinading meat and seasonings
5) Put meat in a pan
9 meals where you didn’t have the same combination once — and that’s nowhere near the end of the variety possibilities just by permuting through the list.
Go to your grocery store and check out every steamer bag vegetable available and add them to the rotation. Pick any other protein you like and add it to the rotation (steak, pork, fish etc). Pick any other ready-made seasonings or condiments for different flavors. Add a serving of any fruit or replace veggies with fruit.
And if you do have your own recipes you love to make, add those into the rotation! But you can have variety without constantly looking for new recipes.
You can cook a double or triple portion easily and have enough for leftovers or meal prep.
Make it simple!
